New Orleans is ranked as the city with the highes crime rate in the country, according to the new report issued by the CQ Press.The new edition of City Crime Rankings lists New Orleans with 19,034 incidences of reported crime, 209 murders and a percent change in violent crime rate of 199.1 percent across the past year.
Overall, Louisiana ranked as the 49th safest state, coming in ahead of Nevada.Ramapo, N.Y. was listed as the city with the lowest rate of crime with only 688 incidences of reported crime and no murders in 2007.
