NEW ORLEANS (AP) — In a report for federal campaign officials, Sen. David Vitter says he has more than $2.5 million in his campaign warchest. Vitter, a Republican, is up for re-election next year and, so far, no one has yet said they are going to oppose him — either in the Republican primary or the general election.
Today is the Federal Election Commission deadline for campaign finance reports from the first quarter of the year. Vitter’s report has not been posted yet on the FEC Web site but Vitter’s office made it public. It shows his campaign raised more than $730,000 in the first three months of the year.
