Senior running back Charles Scott scored both touchdowns in the first half in LSU’s spring game to give the white team a 14-0 lead at the break.
Scott’s touchdowns were for 3 yards and 1 yard.
Sophomore white team quarterback Jordan Jefferson went 3-for-4 for 36 yards passing in the first half before giving way to fellow sophomore Jarrett Lee, who was 2-for-3 for 19 yards.
Freshman purple team quarterback Russell Shepard used his scrambling ability to evade two potential sacks in the first half. His longest run was for 8 yards, and he went 4-of-7 for 38 yards in the half.
Purple team freshman wide receiver Tim Molton led all receivers in the first half with two catches for 35 yards.
There were two turnovers in the first half, first an interception of freshman purple team quarterback Chris Garrett by white team senior linebacker Perry Riley. On the next purple possession, senior running back Patrick Lipoma fumbled.
Sophomore defensive back Ron Brooks returned kickoffs for the purple team in the first half, opening the game with a 33-yard return. He finished with 3 returns for 77 total yards.
