The men’s basketball team fell to 12-9 overall and 2-6 in ACC play Sunday with a 91-87 overtime loss to Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va.The loss to the Hokies was the first since coach Sidney Lowe took over in 2006, and Tech’s first win in the series since January 2005.Senior Ben McCauley led N.C. State with 25 points and 15 rebounds as one of four Wolfpack players to score in double-digits.State led by 18 points with 13:52 remaining in regulation, but the Hokies fought their way back into the game behind A.D. Vassallo, who had 24 points in the contest.Vassallo hit a jumper with 18 seconds left to tie the game, and though the Pack took a timeout, McCauley missed a shot with two seconds to go — sending the game into an extra period with the score 76-76.Tech went up four early in overtime and the Pack never caught up as Vasallo hit four free throws with under 20 seconds to go to seal the game 91-87.State returns to the RBC Center Wednesday to host Wake Forest at 7 p.m.
