On January 28, the University began the transition from Outblaze email to Gmail, Google’s e-mail service. The transition, broken into groups, is moving in alphabetical order.
Sheri Thompson, IT Communications and Planning Officer, said there are more than 38,000 Tigermail accounts to be activated. She said the transition team, working Monday through Thursday, activates 3,000 accounts daily.
“The transition process is really straightforward,” Thompson said. “There haven’t been any bugs or problems. We’re doing it in stages to make sure no problems occur.”
 
Thompson said students will receive an e-mail a few weeks in advance, notifying them of the date of the switch.
