No. 10 LSU Softball beat McNeese 5-2, concluding their non-conference play this season.
Softball’s game was postponed from 6:00 P.M. to 6:15 P.M. because of weather, and it was delayed for 45 minutes after the third inning. The tigers scored 5 runs in the third inning before the game ended.
LSU concluded non-conference play with a 28-1 record, and they swept all eight games against Louisiana opponents. This is their second time beating McKeense this season (2-0).
LSU’s ace pitcher, Ashley Vallejo, had a rocky first inning. SHe allowed two runs before being taken out and replaced by Tatum Clopton. Clopton struck out four and allowed four hits and zero runs.
McNeese’s ace pitcher, Maddie Taylor, did not have her best performance. She allowed four hits, allowed four runs, made three errors, and struck out two players. LSU gained their last run off of McNeese pitcher Kadence Williams.
LSU Jalia Lassiter had a great night at bat. She doubled in the third with a 2 RBI, allowing Danieca Coffey and Jadyn Laneaux to score.
After the weather delay, LSU held off McNeese for the remainder of the game.
LSU softball is currently 37-10 overall and 9-9 in conference play. They only have six more games until the SEC tournament begins on May 6.
Catch the tigers for the last home series April 26-28. They will play the Florida gators in a three-game series.
