The College of Education’s Coastal Roots Program will partner with students from the St. James Science and Math Academy in Valcherie to plant southern bald cypress trees, according to a University news release.The group will transplant self-grown seedlings in the Bayou Segnette State Park in Westwego.”Students participating in the LSU Coastal Roots program are learning to be stewards of our natural resources,” said Pam Blanchard, director of the program and professor, according to the release. “This means both educating ourselves about critical issues so we can make good decisions for our familities and taking action to nurture the environment that nurtures us.”——Contact Lindsey Meaux at [email protected].
