The LSU women’s basketball team will honor their former coach Sue Gunter in a two-day tournament in her name.
The tournament will take place from Dec. 15-16 in the PMAC.
The first round matchups will pit Louisiana-Lafayette against North Carolina A&T with the Lady Tigers playing against Houston Baptist playing in the nightcap.
The winners of the two opening games will play in a championship game on the following day with the losing teams also playing a consolation game.
“Our thought in developing the Sue Gunter Classic is two-fold,” said LSU associate head coach Bob Starkey in a news release. “Most importantly, it will allow us to annually bring her name back to the forefront of women’s college basketball. Secondly, because of how we will conduct the tournament, it will afford us the annual opportunity to educate a new group of women’s college basketball players to her greatness and contribution the game of basketball.”
