Joe Alleva and the rest of the LSU family introduced Will Wade as the new LSU men’s basketball head coach on Wednesday.
“Will is extremely bright, smart and driven,” Joe Alleva said. “When you combine smart and driven, you have a real success.”
“It’s a new day for LSU basketball,” Wade said.
In his two seasons at VCU, Wade went 51-20 and led the Rams to two straight NCAA tournament berths. But his plans for LSU go much further than that.
“We’ve (LSU) been to four final-fours, we’ve been to 20 NCAA tournaments, we have 10 SEC championships and we’re gonna add to all three of those categories over our tenure here,” Wade said. “There is no option to fail. We’re gonna get it done.”
Wade’s game-plan for the Tigers can be can be characterized with one word: aggressive.
“When you get out of bed in the morning, we’re gonna attack the day, we’re gonna be an attacking basketball team on both ends of the court, we’re gonna attack the weight room, everything we do is gonna be aggressive,” Wade said.
Now, a new era in LSU basketball begins.
