Today, students are becoming more and more familiar with technology. Some would even say that this generation is dependent on their electronic devices.
However, advances in technology are creating a more vibrant experience for students and teachers alike.
Students at University High on LSU’s campus are seeing technology being intertwined with curriculum.
Each classroom is equipped with at least six desktop computers, and the school has several mobile Mac units available. Also, teachers are using a variety of tech resources to better communicate the students. Teachers say that using technology in the classroom keeps students more attentive.
However, teachers acknowledge that there is a fine line between a good amount of technology and too much. Students have time constraints when it comes to using iPads and computers. University High also teaches without these devices as well.
The school has a technology plan in place that calls for strengthening leadership, improving teacher training, supporting e-learning and virtual schools, and encouraging improved access and technology usage.
