The season premiere of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” was nothing short of terrible. In fact, it was a complete waste of my time.
STARS: 2/5
Sunday night was the start of the show’s 13th season, not including spin off shows such as “Kourtney & Kim Take Miami” and “Khloé & Lamar.” This premiere was the worst yet, and in my opinion, a disgrace to every other premiere thus far.
Usually, we can expect nothing but glitz, glamour and entertainment when it comes to the Kardashians, but this time was different. I was waiting for something exciting to happen the entire hour, but as time went by, nothing happened.
The most climactic scene was an argument among the three Kardashian sisters about whether or not they should keep their chain of clothing and accessorystores, Dash. Even this debate wasn’t a surprise because it was shown in a preview of the episode.
Kourtney wanted to keep the stores open, but Khloé and Kim did not. Even after the dramatic argument, I knew the sisters would side with Kourtney and keep at least one of the stores. As it turns out, they’re keeping two.
One highlight was the introduction of Khloé’s new boyfriend, Tristan Thompson. However, one of the few dull plotlines included Khloé keeping this relationship a secret from Kim.
She said Kim was too nosy, and though she would tell her eventually, it was fun to mess with her.
Another “issue” we saw was Kourtney not wanting Scott to come to events with her because she claimed she needed space. The whole time, I wanted to scream, “Kourtney, he is always around because you allow him to be around!”
If you want to co-parent, then go for it, but co-parenting does not consist of hanging out with your children’s father even when the children aren’t around. If you want to get back together, get back together, but stop playing around. I was upset this was even a part of the plot and found it pointless.
Overall, to say this episode bored me to tears would be an understatement. In next week’s episode, Kim will discuss being attacked in Paris, and hopefully that episode will be 10 times better.
The Paris attack should’ve been included the premiere, but knowing the show, even though it looks like it will be entertaining, they will probably withhold this part until the last few minutes for shock value.
If the show doesn’t pick up, I will have no choice but to stop watching. Maybe after 10 years and 13 seasons the Kardashians, just aren’t entertaining anymore.
