Pro-Life LSU hosted its largest giveaway event of the year, the End of Semester Baby Shower. The organization collected donations throughout the school year, including baby clothes and other baby supplies, and handed them out to assist parenting students in the LSU community.
“A lot of people think that it’s not possible to complete your education and parent. We’re here to help those students and provide them with any resources they might need,” Pro-Life Co-President Ben Parks said.
Pro-Life LSU is dedicated to providing alternative assistance for students in the LSU community who become pregnant and do not choose abortion.
“We help support student parents, we offer education on different things, and just try to get campus talking about pro-life issues,” Pro-Life LSU President Catherine Stewart said.
The organization is evolving from debating about pro-life issues and legislation, to a group of people actively assisting students facing these issues.
“I don’t think that it’s enough to just tell people, ‘no, you cant have an abortion,’ without having another alternative for them, or to not help them out with it,” Pro-Life LSU Vice President and Head of Women’s Resources, Kara Tucker, said.
The Pro-Life volunteers make resources available and visible, reaching out to as many people as possible. The giveaway event offered resources to anyone in need, from newborn clothes to toys for toddlers.
“It’s the greatest feeling in the world to see people utilizing our help. I think this is the best way to get the pro-life message across,” Tucker said.
