The losing streak continues for Johnny Jones’ men.
Arkansas dominated the second half en route to a 78-70 victory Saturday, and Jones was visibly distraught afterward.
“We came back out in the second half and played like we were a team that was satisfied with where we were,” Jones said. “We did not play tough enough in order to put ourselves in a position to secure victory.”
LSU (9-15, 1-11 SEC) held a nine-point lead at the break, but the Razorbacks (18-7, 7-5 SEC) rallied behind senior guard Dusty Hannahs’ 17 points, all of which came in the second half.
Sophomore guard Antonio Blakeney had his first double-double of the season, finishing with 21 points and 12 rebounds. The loss, he said, came down to the Tigers’ second-half turnovers.
“We turned the ball over,” Blakeney said. “I think we had ten turnovers in the second half. Gave them easy opportunities.”
Junior forward Duop Reath also finished with a double-double, scoring 14 and pulling down 15 boards.
“We just came out and wanted to dominate the rebounds,” Reath said, referring to LSU’s staggering 50-30 edge in the rebounding category. “We didn’t carry it out in the second half very well.”
“I thought we did a good job in the first half,” Jones said. “In the second half, we just lost guys. We just broke down.”
LSU’s next game is on Feb. 14 at Ole Miss.
