Junior running back Derrius Guice earned the Maxwell Award National Player of the Week following a historic performance against Ole Miss, the Maxwell Football Club announced on Tuesday.
Each week the award goes to the player with the best overall performance on offense, defense or special teams.
Guice rushed for 276 yards on 22 carries against the Rebels, becoming the only player in SEC history to have three 250-yard rushing games in a career.
Last season against Texas A&M, Guice broke the LSU single-game rushing record with 285 yards.
The Baton Rouge native was also named the SEC offensive player of the week for the first time this season.
In total, Guice has 711 yards and six touchdowns this season.
