Distractions come in many forms, but the most popular one on college campus’ is our phones. Students are constantly on them texting, scrolling on Instagram, and checking emails. However, when it comes to class time, we’re still focused on our screens instead of the professors.
One app in particular has started to become pretty popular on campus, and the catch is — you don’t use your phone!
Pocket Points is a new mobile application that gives students rewards for not using their phones during class. Simply open the app on campus, lock your phone, and start gaining points. Points are then used at local and online businesses for awesome student discounts, coupons, or gifts!
By exploring the app you’ll see that there are many of the places on campus that students frequently visit. This gives students more of an incentive to put their phones away. There’s even a leader board to show if any of your friends use the app and how many points they’ve gained.
Once students open the Pocket Points app and lock their phone, they start to accumulate points. The longer their phone stays locked, the more points they can get. Points are also awarded based on how many people are on the app at a time.
You can download it from the App Store or GooglePlay. The app is free and only works on campus, so make sure your WiFi is on to get an accurate location. This app will not only keep you from being distracted in class and benefit your wallet, but I’m pretty sure your professors will appreciate you for focusing on them!
