East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore announced Wednesday the University would see an increase in security on gamedays following recent alcohol-related incidents of violence.
In a broadcast email sent to high school students, Moore said the increase of alcohol-related incidents was something law enforcement agencies need to address.
“Although the recent publicized event did not involve an area high school student, the police advise that possession of alcohol and intoxication of high school students on campus is an increasing issue,” Moore said in the email. “All of the law enforcement agencies that provide security to LSU on LSU gamedays will increase their presence and will not tolerate any such activities beginning with this coming weekend’s home games.”
Non-University student Casen Maggio was arrested after punching a student on the Parade Ground before the Chattanooga game. LSU Media Relations confirmed a non-student was stabbed during a tailgate prior to the game. The victim did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.
