Following the loss against Mississippi State, starting quarterback Danny Etling vows to start being a more dominant leader for his teammates and encourage them to treat each practice like a game.
The match-up between LSU and Mississippi State dates back to 1896, but no game in the series’ 111 game history has had an outcome so devastating for the Tigers. LSU fell to Mississippi State 37-7 on Saturday.
LSU racked up nine penalties, two of which neglected touchdowns. Sloppy play and incomplete passes were also an issue.
In order to avoid further unexpected losses, some changes are being made in the quarterback position.
Head coach Ed Orgeron says freshman quarterback and four-star recruit, Myles Brennan, will be more active during practice. He hopes Brennan will see the field in a game this season.
For now, Etling will continue to start as quarterback. He acknowledges his mistakes in being too lax on his team preceding the match-up against the Bulldogs, but will change his attitude against Syracuse.
LSU is favored to win against Syracuse. They will kickoff on Saturday at 6 p.m. in Tiger Stadium.
