In the past, LSU was known for having one of the best defenses in the country. In the 2016 season LSU held No. 1 ranked Alabama to zero points for the first three quarters.
This season however, LSU’s defensive line is struggling.
Syracuse’s quick, up-tempo, no-huddle offense left the defensive line looking tired and sloppy.
“When you play a fast team, you gotta be dialed in. You gotta get lined-up and you gotta play,” LB Devin White said Monday.
The Tigers’ defense played a fairly strong first half, but gave 16 points away in the third quarter against Syracuse. LSU was a 21-point favorite against the Orange but slipped by with a 9-point victory.
Looking forward, White said the defense will learn to keep up their speed and work to become a more cohesive team in practice going into their match-up against Troy.
This will be the third meeting between Troy and LSU. LSU is 2-0 against Troy. In the past two games between the two schools Troy has held a fourth quarter lead.
The Tigers and Trojans will kickoff this Saturday at 6 p.m. in Death Valley.
