LSU Theater is working hard to bring you a brand-new musical this fall. l-M-n-o-p has only been performed once before– by the theater company that created it.
The story is set on an island called Nollop, where the community’s founder is revered for having created a sentence that uses all the letters of the alphabet. The sentence is on a statue of the founder in the town square, and when letters begin falling off, the city council takes it as a sign that they should stop using the letters.
Even though the play starts off lighthearted, it takes on a darker tone when citizens start facing harsh punishments for saying the forbidden letters. Assistant director Joe Carlton told me that the story touches on many deeper topics, like free speech, government control, and blind worship.
The show runs from October 6 to the 15, with a preview night on October 4. Don’t miss this poignant production!
