Grade: A-
Bruno Mars’ debut album “Doo Wops and Hooligans” shines as a pop record with just the right touch of soul. Already a pop sensation for his work with B.o.B and Travis McCoy, Mars puts a unique spin on his pop sound. The album has a distinct ’60s feel, but songs like “Liquor Store Blues” and “The Other Side” show reggae and hip-hop influences as well. Overall, “Doo Wops and Hooligans” could have been more adventurous but is nevertheless a solid album from a talented artist.
