LSU held its annual Pro Day on Wednesday with some of the Tigers’ biggest stars from last season showing up for one last impression on NFL scouts.
Donte Jackson, Darrel Williams help draft stock
Both defensive back Donte Jackson and running back Darrel Williams improved their 40 yard dash times from the NFL combine with Jackson posting a 4.31 time while Williams ran a 4.59. Williams was clocking in the 4.8 range at the combine while Jackson set a school record at the event with his time.
Jackson and Williams were both seen as guys that would be drafted in the day two range. Jackson has round one upside now after the improvement and Williams has more than likely solidified his status as a day two draftee.
Jackson said he had visited with the Eagles, who currently pick 32nd overall, and has visits lined up with other teams before the April 26th draft.
“I’m taking it day by day,” Jackson said. “Staying with my training, cleaning up my technique and getting ready for what’s to come.”
Arden Key shows old self
Linebacker Arden Key participated in the 40 yard dash posting a 4.85 time while weighing in at 238. Key was hoping to post a time in the 4.6 to 4.7 range after electing not to run the 40 at the NFL combine.
Key was up around 270 when he started playing last year after offseason shoulder surgery and felt he may have rushed back to early last season.
“I showed them the sophomore Arden Key,” Key said. “I felt great. I felt I was in shape and showed everyone my speed, flexibility, power and athleticism.”
Key is seen as of now as a day two draftee with the New Orleans Saints showing a good bit of interest.
“That’s good,” Key said. “Who Dat.”
