LSU hosted its 2018 Pro Day for players to impress NFL scouts one last time, and speed was the theme for many Tigers, including wide receiver Russell Gage and defensive back Donte Jackson, who beat his own 4.32 40 by a tenth of a second.
“I just wanted to beat my time at the combine. It was successful. That’s really what it was. There was no reason why I wanted to run today, just wanted to beat the time I ran at the combine. Most definitely was shooting for something under 4.3, but 4.31 is fast so I’m okay with it,” Jackson said.
Additionally, wide receiver Russell Gage ran a 4.42 40 yard dash after not being invited to the combine, which would’ve been tied for 5-fastest in Indianapolis.
“I’m happy for it at the end of the day, just wanted to run to run a little bit faster. I set my expectations high, possibly get in the 4.3s, late 4.3s, somewhere in there, but like I said, I’m happy for it. I’m thankful for the opportunity that I have,” Gage said.
Running back Derrius Guice only did the skills drill but he also spoke with NFL coaches about controversy surrounding his video gaming as an off the field issue. Y’all
“They’ve been talking about my video gaming. I don’t feel like it’s a problem. I actually asked a lot of teams that. They told me a lot of the guys on the team video game. When people tell me that stuff, I only assume they’re talking about video gaming because I have zero other off the field issues”
The NFL hopefuls from the purple and gold will hope to finish their trips and prepare for draft day in just over three weeks on April 26th.
