The Chapel on Campus is set to commemorate Donald Tabb, the church’s founding member, who was found dead Saturday following a boating accident in Plaquemines Parish, at the LSU Pete Maravich Assembly Center May 14.
The organization posted on Facebook Saturday that the event is scheduled at 10 a.m., with a lunch reception to follow at The Chapel on 3355 Dalrymple Drive.
According to the post, more information will be made available at thechapelbr.com, and attire for the event is casual — with “cowboy boots preferred.”
Tabb was described as a “beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, mentor, army ranger, fisherman, evangelist and cowboy.” He disappeared May 2 while fishing at a spot in the Gulf of Mexico when a large wave near the area of Port Eads and South Pass capsized the boat. He was fishing with his friends Patrick Anderson and Jack Frey, the latter of whom drowned.
