LSU linebacker Devin White was named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week following his performance in LSU’s 72-74 loss to Texas A&M., the conference announced Monday.
In Saturday’s seven-overtime thriller, the junior linebacker totaled a career-high 17 tackles with four tackles for loss. He also added a sack for a loss of 12 yards and a forced fumble that outside linebacker Michael Divinity recovered and returned it 58 yards for a game-tying fourth quarter touchdown.
This is White’s second time receiving the honor this season and the sixth of his career. He was previously named Defensive Player of the Week after LSU’s 36-16 win over Georgia.
This is LSU’s tenth Player of the Week honor during the 2018 season.
On the opposite side of the field, Texas A&M offensive lineman Erik McCoy and punter Braden Mann were named SEC Co-Offensive Lineman and Special Teams Player of the Week.
McCoy was apart of an offensive line that allowed the Aggies to gain 234 yards on the ground against LSU and only allowed two sacks on the night.
Mann punted five times for an average of 53.2 with a long of 59 yards.
LSU (9-3, 5-3 Southeastern Conference) is now awaiting its bowl destination.
