Over 700 people gathered at the Galvez Plaza in Downtown Baton Rouge for the 2nd annual Bloom Fest on Saturday, October 6, 2018.
Bloom Fest consists of various local entrepreneurs, artists, food trucks, and over 30 up-and-coming musicians.
The festival began last year as a creative project to showcase Louisiana culture and talent. It was started by Jarvis Antwine II and produced in partnership with Seaux La, a local music marketing group led by Keith Fort and Bruce Q. Williams.
Scattered showers throughout the afternoon did not hinder the artists from blooming. Rain or shine, the show went on from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
As the sun went down, the rain let up and provided a nice, cool night for festival-goers to enjoy themselves.
Bounce musician and New Orleans native, Big Freedia, who recently collaborated with famous rapper, Drake, headlined the festival with a spectacular performance that energized the crowd.
Tiger TV reporter Elise Girdwood, and director Falon Brown got an exclusive opportunity to interview Big Freedia before and after preforming. Check it out!
Overall, it’s safe to say Bloom Fest 2018 was successful in bringing local culture to life.
