Jeanne Leiby, editor and director of the University literary magazine The Southern Review, was killed in a car accident April 19, according to an LSU Media Relations news release.
According to the release, Leiby became the magazine’s first female editor more than three years ago. She had previously held positions at the University of Central Florida, the University of Alabama, the University of Tennessee and Rutgers University.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of Jeanne Leiby’s tragic death,” Chancellor Michael Martin said in the release. “This is a great loss to the LSU community, both personally and professionally. The students, faculty and staff with whom she worked will miss her greatly.”
Details of the accident were not made available in the news release.
