LSU sophomore wide receiver Jazz Ferguson will be unavailable for the Tigers against Alabama and has been suspended because of a “violation of team rules,” coach Ed Orgeron said.
Orgeron, also, said sophomore offensive tackle Toby Weathersby will be a game-time decision versus No. 1 Alabama at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Weathersby has not played since the Tigers 23-20 win against Mississippi State on Sept. 17. Sophomore offensive lineman Maea Teuhema, who has started at right tackle in Weathersby’s absence, practiced with the No.1 offensive line on Tuesday.
“He looks good,” Orgeron said about Weathersby. “We’ll see in pregame whether we start him or not. Maea has done a good job for us at right tackle and that’s an extra bonus.”
Additionally, senior cornerback Tre’Davious White will remain the punt returner on special teams, Orgeron said. Sophomore cornerback Donte Jackson had spent time at practice working as a punt returner and Orgeron has mentioned in the past he wanted to give Jackson the opportunity to be a punt returner.
“He’s doing good,” Orgeron said. “He’s electric back there. We just trust the other guy [White] better. That’s all.”
Jackson also replaced sophomore running back Derrius Guice at kickoff the last two games.
