LSU Defensive Tackle Travonte Valentine spoke to the media for the first time since rejoining the team at the end of the summer.
Valentine, who’s had noted weight problems, said he weighs 355 pounds, but his goal is to be 330 pounds in four weeks.
Despite LSU’s 14-16 loss to Wisconsin Saturday, Valentine said he thought he handled his playing time well enough.
“My grade for me was a C,” Valentine said. “I really think I can do better than that.”
When asked about the fan reaction to the two-point loss, Valentine said he does not think anyone should judge the Tigers’ team by one game.
“It’s our first game. I understand everybody made mistakes. Wisconsin is not a bad team at all. I can see them doing good during this season.”
Valentine said he started getting tired in the middle of the second quarter.
“Coach wanted me to keep going-and-going. If I was here a little bit earlier…maybe, probably during the summer…it would’ve helped a lot.”
