Following former LSU volunteer assistant coach Will Davis’ acceptance of the head coaching position at Lamar at the end of the 2016 season, Nolan Cain will take over Davis’ on-the-field coaching duties for the Tigers, the Advocate reports.
Cain will be the third-base coach along with coaching catchers, base-running and the outfield, according to the Advocate.
Cain, who pitched for the Tigers from 2006 to 2009, has served as LSU’s Coordinator of Baseball Operations since 2013.
Former LSU catcher Micah Gibbs is set to assume Cain’s position as coordinator of baseball operations, according to the Advocate.
