For the second season in row, LSU was ranked as the nation’s ninth-most valuable football program in a study published in the Wall Street Journal on Monday.
Ryan Brewer, a finance professor at Indiana University-Purdue University who conducted the study, estimated the LSU football program to be worth $612.30 million.
The Ohio State University topped the ratings with assessment of $946.61 million. The University of Texas ($885.05 million), the University of Michigan ($811.30 million), the University of Notre Dame ($723.59 million) and the University of Alabama ($694.87) rounded out Brewer’s top-five most valuable programs.
Along with Alabama and LSU, seven other Southeastern Conference schools made it into Brewer’s top 20 programs, including the University of Florida at No. 7 and the University of Georgia at No.8.
Brewers reached his findings by taking into account a program’s revenues, expenses, made cash-flow adjustments, risk assessments and growth projections.
