LSU sophomore quarterback Brandon Harris had a minor medical procedure on Monday, LSU spokesman Michael Bonnette confirmed to The Daily Reveille.
Harris started all 12 games for the Tigers this season, throwing for 1,904 yards and 12 touchdowns while completing 53.2 percent of his passes. The Bossier City, Louisiana native is 9-4 as a starter, which includes his one start in 2014 in a loss to Auburn.
Glenn Guilbeau, who covers LSU for Gannett Louisiana and the USA Today Network, reported the procedure was for a sports hernia injury, citing sources close to Harris.
In Guilbeau’s report, Harris said his injury worsened as the season went on and recovery time would take six to eight weeks. Harris, though, expects to be ready by the start of spring practices, according to the report.
“It’s something minor, and I have to go get it taken care of now that the season is over,” Harris said in Guilbeau’s report. “It’s nothing serious, but I’ve had it for a long time. It’s been nagging at me for a while. So, this is the perfect time to take care of it. It’s a minor procedure.”
