LSU softball senior third baseman Bianka Bell has the most home runs of any player in team history.
She showed the ability that earned her the crown against No. 16 Georgia on Sunday.
Bell blasted two long shots to push the Tigers (52-17) past the Bulldogs (46-20) 4-1 to survive their second-straight Women’s College World Series elimination game.
As soon as the game began, Bell wasted no time. In the first frame, the senior launched a two-run homer just right of dead center to give her team a 2-0 lead.
After Georgia pulled within one run, Bell stepped up to the dish and slammed a solo shot to nearly the exact same spot in the fifth.
LSU sophomore starting pitcher Carley Hoover began her second-straight game and earned her second-straight win from the circle. She gave up three hits and struck out five, while stifling the Bulldog batting order.
The Clemson, South Carolina native did not give her opponent a chance to comeback and retired eleven straight batters to end the contest.
The victory ends Georgia’s season and the Tigers sent a Southeastern Conference foe packing for the second-straight game, after defeating rivals Alabama on Saturday.
LSU will clash with Oklahoma at 8:30 p.m. Sunday in yet another elimination game for the Tigers. If LSU claims that game, a winner-take-all game will be played Monday to decide which team will advance into the championship round.
