After having brief talks with the University of Texas, LSU coach Paul Mainieri will stay at LSU, according to a report by The Advocate.
Mainieri is expected to receive a “significant” raise according to the report.
Texas reached out to Mainieiri about its coaching vacancy accoriding to a report by D1Baseball.com
Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball said that Mainieri interviewed with Texas in the last few days and the Longhorns interest in Mainieri is “legitimate.”
The Longhorns are trying to replace Augie Garrido, the winningest coach in college baseball history, who was relinquished of his duties after 20 years with the school.
Mainieri, 58 just finished his 10th season with LSU earning a fifth straight national seed and advanced to the NCAA Super Regional. In his tenure with LSU, he’s won over 400 games with the Tigers and won a national championship in 2009.
