The No. 10 LSU softball team was set to open its Women’s College World Series against Michigan and begin chasing a National Championship on Thursday evening in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Mother nature had a different plan.
Inclement weather delayed the Tigers and Wolverines first pitch and ultimately postponed the contest until Friday.
“Heavy rains following several lightning delays caused organizers to halt action for the remainder of the night,” said a LSU press release.
The game will begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of Alabama and Oklahoma, which was suspended in the second inning with both teams scoreless. The Tide and Sooners will resume at a time yet to be determined.
The winner of LSU and Michigan will play the winner of Alabama and Oklahoma at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
