The Terms, along with local band Yellow Light Go, will perform tonight on the Parade Ground as part of a hurricane relief benefit concert hosted by KLSU.
The event – which before Hurricane Katrina was scheduled only as a KLSU concert, not a benefit – is being sponsored by Coca-Cola, All-Star Scion, SoGo Live and LSU Student Media.
Barrett Wiley, KLSU station manager, said all money collected at the concert will be given to the Student Relief Fund.
The Student Relief Fund was set up by Student Government and the LSU Foundation to help University students who have been financially hurt or displaced by hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Wiley said the concert is free, as the sponsors will be footing the bill for the bands and costs for the show. KLSU will be collecting donations for the relief fund.
In addition to the musical performances, KLSU will be giving away CDs, Wiley said. Coca-Cola will be providing refreshments and Enkei, a wheel-manufacturing company, will be offering a chance to win rims for a car.
The Terms, who were originally supposed to play a show in New Orleans tonight, will be the headlining band. The concert is not the only donation effort the group is taking part in.
Clyde Hargrove, guitarist for the Terms, said while they are on tour, a portion of all their CD and ticket sales will be given to the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, a group that is providing support to those devastated by hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
The concert is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. and both bands will play approximately one hour.
