Student Government will show the football game against Arizona State in Tiger Stadium on Saturday for all students, faculty and staff and their guests.
The stadium will open at 7 p.m., and the game will begin at 8 p.m. Students do not need to be ticket holders, but must show their student IDs. The game is free for students and their guests, but a collection will be taken for Hurricane Katrina victims.
Participants will be admitted through gates 8 and 9, and security will operate like a normal game day including policies on alcohol.
“We want to have a positive event,” Student Government President Michelle Gieg said. “We keep talking about returning to a state of normalcy. This will provide an experience that is more like normal LSU.”
The game will be broadcast on two large screens each 15 feet tall and 20 feet wide and accompanied with a sound system.
The concession stands will be open and will operate with a 25 percent discount on all food. In addition the concessions will donate a portion of the profits to the Student Relief Fund.
Stations will be set up next to the concession stands where students can make donations using cash, checks or Tiger Cash.
Patrick Downs, SG vice president, said the stadium will operate the same as a regular game day, meaning fans can tailgate.
Fans will be able to leave and come back during halftime, and Downs said SG will most likely play music.
Downs also said the entire broadcast on ESPN will be centered around relief efforts and expects that much of halftime will too.
Gieg said she expects 5,000 to 8,000 fans will attend, but SG will be prepared to accommodate more.
Seating will be in the Northeast endzone in sections 6 – 10, 11 – 16 and 32 – 42.
Gieg said SG will conduct a test run Friday with the screens to check seating visibility and adjust lighting.
Students will still receive a refund for their ticket whether or not they attend the SG program.
