Police arrest man on multiple charges
LSUPD arrested a Lod and Carol Cook Conference Center employee Feb. 25 on four charges including fraud and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police initially charged Ryan Saucier, 21, 9989 Burbank Dr. Apt.161, with access to a device for fraud and felony theft Jan. 29.
At that time, officers learned Saucier allegedly used another person’s credit card to book a room under an assumed name, said Lt. Lawrence Rabalais.
Police also found a laptop computer the hotel reported missing Oct. 24 in his home, he said.
However, after an investigation, LSUPD charged Saucier with computer fraud, access device fraud, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Rabalais said when a customer paid for his room, Saucier pocketed the cash instead of putting it in the register.
Then, when the register did not balance that night and a manager confronted him, Saucier used a previous guest’s credit card to pay for the room, Rabalais said. This act constitutes access device fraud.
Next, Saucier used the computer to change the transaction to fall under the previous guest’s name, thus the computer fraud.
When officers searched Saucier’s home, they found marijuana and drug paraphernalia, Rabalais said. Because of this discovery, police charged Saucier with the additional drug charges.
Officers booked Saucier into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
Police still are investigating the incident but could not comment on the nature of these events because they are part of an ongoing investigation.
