LSUPD assisted the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration in a student’s arrest Monday.
Officers charged Trent Harrell, 208 Martin Drive, Natchitoches, with distribution of controlled dangerous substances and conspiracy to distribute controlled dangerous substances.
Kevin Harrison, resident agent in charge of the local DEA, said the Shreveport agency of DEA issued a warrant for Harrell’s arrest.
Harrison said the local DEA contacted LSUPD for assistance in the arrest to verify Harrell’s student status and to involve them for safety concerns.
The arrest occurred at 10:54 a.m. near the New Design Building.
Harrison said he could not give further details about the crime because the arrest is part of an ongoing investigation of drug trafficking in Shreveport.
Officers booked Harrell into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison with a pending transfer to Shreveport.
