For the third consecutive year senior forward Ronald Dupree was elected to the All-Southeastern Conference Second Team by SEC coaches.
This season Dupree led the Tigers in scoring, averaging 16 points in the regular season and 16.5 points per game in SEC play.
He also averaged 7.8 rebounds during the season and increased the figure to 8.3 against SEC foes. He set his career record for season shooting percentage this year with a field goal percentage of 53.6 percent. This mark also placed him third among SEC shooters.
Dupree was the lone Tiger to be named an All-SEC player.
Florida forward Matt Bonner, Mississippi State forward/center Mario Austin, Tennessee forward Ron Slay and Georgia guard/forward Jarvis Hayes were named to the first All-SEC team.
Kentucky guard Keith Bogans earned a spot on the All-SEC first team by being selected as SEC Player of the Year while his coach Tubby Smith took home the title of 2003 SEC Coach of the Year. Florida guard Anthony Roberson earned SEC Freshman of the Year.
Dupree and the Tigers are riding a five-game winning streak into today’s game against Arkansas at 2:15 p.m. in the first round of the SEC tournament at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans. LSU (19-9, 8-8 SEC) finished the regular season tied for second in the SEC West with Auburn.
Student tickets will be available at Gate F of the Superdome beginning at 11 a.m for today’s game. Tickets will be sold for $10 cash and students must present LSU IDs to purchase.
