The serial killer may not be a white or hispanic male, Cpl. Mary Ann Godawa, spokeswoman for the Multi-Agency Homicide Task Force said Friday at a press conference.
Though police identified the serial killer as a white or hispanic male in September, Godawa said police obtained this new information after canvassing the neighborhood around Carrie Yoder’s home.
Police identified Yoder, a biological sciences graduate student, as the fifth serial killer victim March 14.
Godawa said the public should “broaden their thinking” and consider any male who may fit the psychological aspects of the profile.
The profile said the offender watches women and follows those women in whom he is interested. He finds watching and following women exciting.
He also does not necessarily draw attention to himself and can blend in with his environment.
The profile also describes the offender as a person who hates to lose control or the sense of power. He may blame others for what happens to him.
Godawa said the public should continue to call the tipline, but should not exclude any information based on information about a white truck or race.
Godawa also expelled rumors of police arresting the serial killer.
Anyone with information about the investigation can call the tipline at 1-866-389-3310.
