Each year, the Greek community spends one week competing in events to raise money for philanthropies and to build friendships with each chapter.
Greek Week started this week.
Victoria Beard, chairwoman of Greek Week, said each day, chapters are paired with an alternate chapter to get to know each other and build unity.
“It is not about competition, but we want everyone to forget their own letters and know we are all members of a community,” Beard said.
Greek Week began Monday with an awards presentation by the Office of Greek Affairs. Chapters and individual members were honored for their accomplishments throughout the year.
Members spent Tuesday at Don Carter’s for All-Greek Bowling. Wednesday, the chapters will hold the LSU Carnival for Kids from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on the Parade Ground. This event is for University professors and their children.
Individual members will participate Thursday in a bachelor and bachelorette dating game in the Bo Campbell Auditorium.
The community will host a Trot for Tots 5K Run Friday to benefit the LSU Language Preschool.
The week concludes with Songfest, the biggest event of Greek Week.
Chapters will compete in a seven-to-10 minute dance and sing-along skit. Each group will dress up and perform a choreographed act.Greek Week AwardsMost Outstanding Community ServiceDelta Delta DeltaMost Outstanding Community ServiceSigma Phi EpsilonOutstanding Community ServantKatherine Haxthausen, Delta Delta DeltaOutstanding Community ServantCurtis Bone, Sigma NuMost Outstanding Community Service HoursAlpha Kappa AlphaMost Outstanding Community Service HoursAcaciaMost Outstanding Fund-raiserKappa Kappa Gamma, “Kappa Klassic Golf Tournament”Most Outstanding Fund-raiserLambda Chi Alpha, “Watermelon Bust”Most Outstanding PresidentRonald Fremin, Sigma NuMost Outstanding PresidentJosh Johnson, Phi Kappa PsiMost Outstanding PresidentMalonna Bandy, Alpha Kappa AlphaMost Outstanding New MemberScott Sutton, Phi Kappa PsiMost Outstanding New MemberKaela Michelle Barnett, Alpha Kappa AlphaOutstanding Fraternity AdvisorKerry Sauley, Phi Kappa PsiOutstanding Sorority AdvisorAnn Eaton, Kappa Kappa GammaNPHC Greek Woman of the YearConstance Mims, Alpha Kappa AlphaIFC Greek Man of the YearBrad Golson, Sigma Phi EpsilonPanhellenic Greek Woman of the YearMeredith Brexler, Pi Beta PhiAlumnus of the YearPaul Reed Burns, Sr., Kappa AlphaAlumnae of the YearDe De Sabagh Ferrarah, Delta Delta DeltaMost Creative Nonalcoholic Social EventKappa Alpha Theta, “Grab A Date”Most Creative Nonalcoholic Social EventPi Kappa Phi, “Empathy Dinner”Most Outstanding BrotherhoodPhi Gamma DeltaMost Outstanding SisterhoodZeta Tau AlphaMost Outstanding AthleteChris Hester, Sigma Phi EpsilonMost Outstanding AthleteLeslie Vitrano, Delta GammaRecruitment Ethics AwardZeta Tau AlphaRecruitment Ethics AwardPi Kappa AlphaMost Outstanding Bid Day ActivitiesDelta ZetaMost Outstanding Bid Day ActivitiesLambda Chi AlphaOutstanding Greek AmbassadorMatt ColvinOutstanding Greek AmbassadorMegan FlynnOutstanding Greek AmbassadorMeredith BrexlerOutstanding Greek AmbassadorOrlando GreenOutstanding Greek AmbassadorCynthia MayOutstanding ChapterChi OmegaOutstanding ChapterDelta Delta DeltaOutstanding ChapterPhi MuOutstanding ChapterDelta ZetaOutstanding ChapterDelta GammaOutstanding ChapterLambda Chi AlphaOutstanding ChapterZeta Tau AlphaChancellor’s Scholarship CupChi OmegaChancellor’s Scholarship CupSigma ChiChancellor’s Scholarship CupAlpha Kappa Alpha
