LSUPD still is investigating the arrest of LSUPD Sgt. Jeremy Strickland.
Baton Rouge Police arrested Strickland Oct. 17 for possession of cocaine after seeing him allegedly snort a substance from a truck.
BRPD Cpl. Don Kelly said BRPD officers found one gram of cocaine when they searched the vehicle.
LSUPD Capt. Mark Shaw said the matter still is under investigation.
“It’s an internal investigation of a personnel matter,” Shaw said.
Shaw said Strickland is on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of the investigation and that the outcome would determine whether Strickland will be able to continue to be employed with LSUPD.
Shaw said he did not have a timetable for the investigation. He said LSUPD needs information from other law enforcement agencies and that would partly determine how long the investigation will take.
