New band, Echo 7, hopes to rock Baton Rouge Tuesday night at the Texas Club.
In De Goot Records signed the band last December and they released their new album, “One Step Away,” on July 29.
The band originated in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and now is rocking through the first leg of their first national tour.
Ronnie O’Briant, singer for Echo 7, said they never have been to Baton Rouge before, but are excited to be playing here. He said the band loves being on tour.
“It’s awesome, we love seeing new places. We love being able to do what we love every night,” O’Briant said.
Echo 7 has a fresh, unique sound. The album’s title track, “One Step Away,” is a hard rock tune with complicated rhythms and guitar riffs.
The band is great at playing heavy rock, but can also melt hearts with the acoustic ballad “Left Alone.” The lyrics are sincere and heart wrenching.
Echo 7 has a certain newness in their lyrics and music that keeps listeners guessing where they came from.
O’Briant said they have many writing influences including Tool and the Foo Fighters.
“We’re a big melting pot of influences,” he said.
The band spent several months recording “One Step Away” in the studio.
O’Briant said the band enjoyed the recording process, but it was not all easy.
“It’s always a mixture of easy and difficult, but mostly difficult,” O’Briant said. “We love to record our stuff, but we are anxious to get to the end and hear our CD. It’s definitely not the same as playing live.”
As for performing live, Echo 7 enjoys every moment of it.
O’Briant said it is difficult to explain the feeling he gets from playing live.
“It’s different from anything else. Sometimes I feel excited, sometimes I feel nervous, but it’s where I want to be. It’s like a dream that everyone is in together,” he said.
