Most LSU fans can only think about one football game this weekend. Contrary to popular belief, however, there is a decent list of games to watch this Saturday.
Marshall (1-2) at No. 6 Kansas State (4-0)
This will be K-State’s biggest test of the season, if you can call the not-so Thundering Herd a big test. Marshall is without starting quarterback Stan Hill, who is out with a sprained knee, and lost to Mid-Atlantic Conference foe Toledo last weekend.
The Wildcats have played back-to-back Division I-AA opponents, but the loss of Heisman candidate quarterback Ell Roberson hurts. But it does not hurt that much.
Kansas State 45, Marshall 17.
Michigan State (2-1) at No. 23 Notre Dame (1-1)
Notre Dame looks to pick up the pieces after last week’s disappointing 38-0 loss at Michigan.
The good news for the Irish is Michigan State is coming off an equally disappointing loss to Louisiana Tech.
The Spartans own a three-game winning streak in South Bend, Ind., but do not count on the Irish to lose another contest to a Michigan team.
Notre Dame 27, Michigan State 17.
No. 5 Michigan (3-0) at No. 22 Oregon (3-0)
The most despicable jerseys in football host the Wolverines this weekend in a matchup of undefeated teams.
Michigan quarterback John Navarre is 24-8 as a starter, including last weekend’s shutout of rival Notre Dame in the Big House.
Running back Chris Perry leads the nation in rushing, averaging 183 yards per game. The Ducks’ only chance this weekend is if Michigan players become nauseous from Oregon’s sick uniforms.
Michigan 33, Oregon 16.
No. 16 Arizona State (2-0) at No. 14 Iowa (3-0)
The Sun Devils make their first trip to a Big Ten venue since 1987. Arizona State boasts the nation’s 11th best defense versus the run, allowing 61 yards per game. Iowa counters with the nation’s 10th best running back in Fred Russell, averaging 113.3 yards per contest. This time, however, offense beats defense.
Iowa 21, Arizona State 20.
Bowling Green (3-0) at No. 4 Ohio State (3-0)
I played this game on NCAA Football 2004 for Playstation 2 and think this week should mirror my results.
Buckeyes quarterback Craig Krenzel may sit with an injured elbow and, ironically, did not play against me in my season with the Falcons, allowing the Bowling Green defense to focus on Ohio State’s running game.
Look for Falcons quarterback Josh Harris to strike in the fourth quarter with a 49-yard touchdown pass to seal the deal.
Bowling Green 17, Ohio State 10.
