Complete with music from KLSU and tropical door prizes, the Office of Student Media is offering students a break from their day Monday, March 29 to check out the Living Expo in the PMAC.
From 11 a.m.. to 2 p.m. the PMAC will be filled with representatives from 25 area apartment complexes, residential life, Cox Communications and Accent Furniture.
Public relations junior and Student Media marketing director Linzy Roussel said everyone is excited about the expo and putting a lot of effort into the displays.
“A lot of [the apartments] are getting big, ornate decorations and displays built,” Roussel said.
In coordination with the Expo’s “Live it Up” tropical theme, Roussel said some complexes are even building palm trees for their booths.
“The goal is to promote the Living Guide for The Reveille and expose the LSU community to their options living on and off campus,” said Assistant Marketing Director Danielle Hidalgo.
Hidalgo, a fashion merchandising sophomore, also said they hope to attract anywhere from 500 to 1,000 people at the event.
The marketing and public relations department has been planning the event for more than a month.
Shari Rios, the property manager at Coventry Terrace, said she likes the idea of the expo and hopes it is successful enough to continue for years to come.
“I hope to let everyone know we’re out here, what we have to offer that everyone seems to enjoy so much, and our close proximity to LSU,” Rios said.
Coventry Trace is located by the north gates of LSU in the Garden District.
Rios said they have been working very hard on a nice, catchy display. She also said they will have a few contracts on hand for students, and will be offering specials for those who sign up within a certain time period.
Oakbrook property manager Tammy Lane said they will have a Tiki Hut set up, along with food and drinks, and great giveaways.
“We’ve got some great tropical things [for students] to take with them on Spring Break,” Lane said. “We also will have information they can take with them about all three R.W. Day properties, Tiger Plaza, Highland Plantation and Oakbrook.”
Lane also said they will have contracts on hand and some sort of incentive for signing a contract that day.
