LSUPD arrested 18-year-old Christopher Charles, mass communication freshman, for simple rape Wednesday night in his Highland Hall dorm room.
LSUPD Maj. Ricky Adams said Charles, of 1606 Middlesbrough Ln., Missouri City, Tex., allegedly had a party in his dorm room on the night of Nov. 4. The woman said she, Charles and other friends were drinking alcohol at the party. Later in the evening she passed out in the room.
The woman said she woke up partially clothed in the morning and realized Charles had raped her.
Adams said the woman went to Earl K. Long Hospital shortly after, where hospital nurses conducted a rape kit and called LSUPD.
Adams said LSUPD detectives interviewed the woman at the hospital and continued the investigation until Nov. 14, interviewing Charles and others who attended the party.
Charles was booked at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and released on $10,000 bond.
The woman told police she had known Charles for a short period of time.
When contacted in his dorm room, Charles refused to comment on the situation.
