An LSU Law School student was injured at the San Fermin festivalin Pamplona, Spain last Friday.
A group of law students studying at the University of Lyon IIISchool of Law in Lyon, France for the summer took a side trip toPamplona, Spain for the running of the bulls.
The injured 22-year-old Louisiana resident requested doctors atVirgren del Camino Hospital, where he was treated for kneeinjuries, not disclose his name to reporters.
Katie Dampier, a second-year law student who is also studying inFrance, told The Reveille Tuesday about the accident.
Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs Cheney Joseph said the LawCenter has not received any official information, but law professorJohn White, who is instructing the students in Lyon, told him ofthe accident.
Joseph also said he did not anticipate the student having toleave the program because of his injuries.
The Associated Press reported the hospital admitted four men,including two Americans, on July 9 after injuries from the run.
The running of the bulls is a highly celebrated tradition inPamplona, which is in North Central Spain near the Frenchborder.
According to a festival website, the national and internationalpastime comes from the historic practice of transporting bulls fromthe countryside to the bullring for fighting. Young men would herdthe bulls, similar to herding sheep, through the streets, andgradually people from all around began to join in the process.
The bull-runs take place throughout the 9-day San Ferminfestival every year.
