LSU has announced the cancellation of all remote classes on Thursday, Sept. 12, in anticipation of the effects of Hurricane Francine.
The campus will remain closed on Thursday, with all members of the LSU community remaining under a shelter in place order until 1 p.m. that day.
Further announcements about Friday’s campus operations will be made once the storm has passed and the university can assess any impacts.
The Law Center, School of Veterinary Medicine, and LSU Online will provide their students and staff with separate instructions regarding Thursday operations.
Students living on campus should continue following Residential Life’s instructions during the storm. Essential personnel should remain in contact with their supervisors, while non-essential staff are advised to stay off campus.
LSU urges the community to stay indoors, avoid windows, and refrain from using elevators. Power outages are anticipated, and students and staff are encouraged to charge their devices and stay informed via local news and weather alerts. Even after the shelter-in-place order is lifted, hazards like street closures and power outages may persist.
