The Tigers dropped the Senior Day and last regular season game of the 2024-25 season to the Ole Miss Rebels on Sunday.
The team started the game on a high, but it was the costly turnovers in the second half that weighed the Tigers down and contributed to the loss of their 15-point lead.
“Turnovers, everything is on us,” said guard Mikayla Williams. Going forward we just have to take better care of the ball.”
With 26 total turnovers the Tigers were loose on offense and the Rebels took advantage all night.
“We need to be disciplined,” said Forward Aneesah Morrow. “It starts in practice, we need to have better practices and we need to be as disciplined as we can be offensively and defensively.”
While it was a somber ending, Senior forward engraved her name in NCAA history with her 100th career double-double. She joins Oklahoma’s Courtney Paris as the only players to reach this mark in men’s or women’s D-1 history.
“It means a lot to me and my family. They’ve helped me so much throughout this journey just encouraging me no matter how discouraged I might be,” said Morrow when asked about her achievement. “It’s hard being as consistent as I am every night, I have aches and pains that I continue to fight through but it’s the love for the game that I have…”
The SEC Tournament kicks off March 5th, but the Tigers will have a much needed break as they won’t take the stage until the Quarterfinals on March 7th.
