LSU softball failed to take Game 3 versus Texas A&M on Sunday.
After giving up first inning leads to the Aggies in the first two games, the Tigers successfully shut them out to begin Game 3. This game proved to be a pitchers duel early, both teams going hitless through two innings, and both teams threatened but never scored.
Oklahoma State transfer Tatum Clopton got her first start of SEC play as a Tiger. She showed her abilities in the circle, making use of the strong defense around her. Clopton kept A&M on their toes well enough that the hits were few and far between.

Although she only allowed a few hits, it didn’t stop the Aggies from scoring big. In the four hits that Clopton allowed, one swing put three runs on the board for A&M.
Sydney Berzon came in to relieve Clopton in the sixth inning, and allowed no runs in the inning.
Going into the seventh inning, LSU was down by four runs. They needed a big rally to pull the game off.
The Aggies put Emiley Kennedy into the game to keep the purple and gold off the base paths, but LSU had a different idea.
Once again, the Tigers pulled out their grit to battle back. They took it one pitch at a time, passing the bat to string hits along to try and push runs across.
Maci Bergeron came up big once again, hitting an RBI single to stretch the inning.
After another threat in the final inning, LSU couldn’t get it done. The Tigers left the bases loaded in another seventh inning rally.
Texas A&M swept LSU, with Game 3 ending 4-1. Throughout the series, LSU only led during a game once.
The tough offense the Tigers have used all season has slimmed out after a tough weekend in College Station.
The Bayou Bengals need to pull everything back together as the season ends. Getting kicked in the teeth can either make or break this team.
To make it back to Oklahoma City, the Tigers need to focus and use this loss to motivate them for the future.
LSU needs to regroup before heading to play No. 1 Texas on Friday.
